Fisker Teases Three EVs, Including Alaska Pickup Truck

Electric vehicle startup Fisker held its first Product Vision Day in California late Thursday night, unveiling prototypes of three future models and an off-road package for its current Ocean compact crossover.

The future models include the Pear urban runabout, the Alaska lifestyle pickup truck, and the Ronin four-door convertible. Reservations for each have already begun.

The Pear is expected to be the first to be introduced. Fisker said it is aiming for a mid-2025 market launch. The starting price is confirmed at $29,900, making the Pear one of the most affordable EVs on the market.

Alaska is also aiming for a 2025 launch with a starting price of $45,400.

Fisker did not mention a launch date for the Ronin, but did confirm that the convertible will be available in limited quantities with a starting price of $385,000.

"Fisker is not standing still," Fisker CEO and founder Henrik Fisker said at the event. 'We have big plans and we want the world to know that we intend to expand into several different segments.'

Fisker previously said that the Pear will be about 177 inches long, slightly shorter than rival electric compact crossovers like Hyundai's Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen's ID.4. It will seat six people and hide what Fisker calls a "Houdini trunk." It features a tailgate. The maximum range is expected to be about 300 miles.

Production will be outsourced to Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer best known for making iPhones for Apple. Foxconn will be responsible for production of the Pear at the former General Motors plant in Road Town, Ohio; the Pear will also use a platform known as the SLV1 that Fisker is developing with Foxconn.

The Alaska will be a compact pickup based on the same platform as the Ocean, dubbed the FT31, which Fisker developed with Magna Steyr, the independent Austrian contract manufacturer that the same company that manufactures the Ocean at its plant.

Alaska is designed to claim the mantle of the world's lightest electric truck, offering a modular cargo bed that can extend to 9.2 feet. Fisker is aiming for a range of 340 miles.

The Ronin is best described as a convertible with supercar performance. According to Fisker, it will feature a three-motor powertrain that produces more than 1,000 hp total output and enough battery capacity for a range of more than 600 miles. It also has an estimated 0-60 mph time of about 2 seconds.

The roof of the Ronin is a carbon fiber retractable hardtop, and the interior seats five passengers. Access to the cabin is through butterfly doors.

Fisker also unveiled the Ocean's new Force E package at the Product Vision Day, which was previewed in May. This package will be available early next year, and Fisker plans to announce pricing closer to that date. The package is designed for Ocean's "Ultra" and "Extreme" grades and adds features such as raised suspension, underbody protection, and 33-inch off-road tires.
