Alfa Romeo Milano's debut EV begins charging on April 10.

Alfa Romeo has unveiled the first photos of the new Milan, revealing that it will debut on April 10.

The Milan is an electric subcompact crossover, which is crucial because it is the first electric vehicle for the Alfa Romeo brand to offer only battery-powered vehicles in 2027.

The Milan has not been confirmed for sale in the U.S. and may not be sold in the U.S. due to its small size. Elsewhere, it will serve as a new entry point for Alfa Romeo now that the Giulietta and Mito hatchbacks are gone. The Tonale, a plug-in hybrid compact crossover, is currently the smallest Alfa Romeo sold in the U.S.

Alfa Romeo has not offered specs for the Milano, but previously confirmed that the crossover will be sold with a gas engine in some markets The company has confirmed that the crossover will be sold with a gas engine in some markets. This suggests that it is related to the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600 subcompact crossover twins sold abroad.

The Avenger and 600 platforms are updated versions of the CMP platform designed for the parent company Sterantis subcompact car. Both the Avenger and 600 are powered by a 54 kwh battery and a 156 hp electric motor on the front axle. A similar setup is expected for the Milan.

Alfa Romeo is supposed to be sportier than Jeep and Fiat. The development team includes engineers who worked on the 4C and 8C Competizione and the new 33 Stradale supercar. Much of the development work is being done at a test track in Barocco, near Alfa Romeo's Milan headquarters.

Following the Milan, Alfa Romeo will present its next EV in 2025. It is rumored to be the successor to the Giulia sedan, while the Stelvio crossover is rumored to be replaced by an electric vehicle in 2026. Both models are expected to use Sterantis' STLA Large platform, which will result in eight vehicles by the end of 2026, including a replacement for the Dodge Challenger/Charger due later this year.
