The icon new restomod is a true blue 1968 Ford Bronco
The icon is back in another Ford Bronco restomod, this time in retro two-tone blue paint.
1968BR maintains the look of the Old School Edition 1968 Bronco, but almost everything on it has been changed for new or high quality. It starts with the chassis, a bespoke piece that was powder coated for added durability. On the bodywork there is a layer of powder coat under the paint for the same reason (a combination of Azul Niagra blue and Wimbledon white).
Icon made some subtle changes to the outside, including replacing the metal and some plastic trim. The Bronco rides on BF Goodrich 285/65R18 18-inch forged wheels with a vintage Ford hub cap wrapped in all-terrain tires. Includes removable hard top and bikini top.
This Bronco is powered by a Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 and produces 440 horsepower. The engine is connected to a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case and a four-wheel drive system with Dana60 front and Dana44 rear axles. The ARB lock differential is also available, and the Brembo brake system with front 6 piston and rear 4 piston calipers handles the deceleration.
The interior features door panels with leather seats and wool carpets, and the color of the dashboard and steering wheel matches the blue paint on the exterior. The icon also installed a modern air conditioning system, an audio system, and a head unit. The latter incorporates a rearview camera feed, navigation Bluetooth, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay. Bronco also features a power window operated by the original window crank.
This is the latest in many impeccable icon restomods. In addition to the Broncos, the company also has a Toyota Land Cruiser Restmod (which has completed 500 cars so far) and a Chevy Lift Master pickup truck.
It has also in the past offered an assortment of patina classics that the company calls derelict.
