Valentine One Gen2 Military technology provides enhanced sensitivity.

Valentine Research has finally updated its legendary radar detector.

On Tuesday, Valentine Research began shipping the Valentine One Gen2, a new radar detector with greater sensitivity, more processing power, and an updated interface.

The Valentine One has been available since the 1990s, with updated internal components and a thinner body, but has remained virtually unchanged for more than 20 years; only radar detector enthusiasts will notice that the V1 Gen2 is different at a glance.

Among the V1 Gen2's improvements are increased detection range and sensitivity. According to Valentine Research, the Surface Acoustic Wave Dispersive Delay Line (SAWD2L) technology used in military radars can scan radar signals 100 times faster than previous products. The increased data flow allows V1 Gen2 to sort radar signals faster and remove false signals from radar-based security systems in modern vehicles.

Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) technology has been added to detect and enhance weak signals. Valentine Research claims that the improvement in Ka-band range is "significant" but does not provide specifics: the ability of the LNA to pick up weak signals at longer ranges works in conjunction with SAWD2L's processing speed, allowing false signals to be detected earlier than before.

New software called K-Verifier filters out false signals in the K-band.

Valentine One's proprietary layered button interface has been converted to a single multifunction button on the front panel and two volume buttons on the top panel of the V1 Gen2 unit is slightly more elongated compared to the current model, and the front LED display panel now has a flatter appearance. display panel now has a flatter appearance. display panel now has a flatter appearance.

Valentine Research has made the V1 Gen2's display easier to see threat types by displaying threat ranges (X, K, Ka, and L) instead of the small red LEDs used in previous models. In addition, the "bump" counter showing the number of signals received has been restored, as well as the arrow indicating the direction of the signal. The intensity meter is now oriented vertically rather than horizontally.

The V1 Gen2 is compatible with previous Valentine One accessories such as the power cable and hidden display. The mounts are similar, but have different dimensions and are not compatible with previous mounts.

Built-in Bluetooth allows the V2 Gen2 to connect to a free app for Valentine One iOS or Android smartphones, which provides more detailed signal analysis and allows for future V2 Gen2 software updates.

In 2015, Escort released the Max 360 radar detector, which was later updated to the Max 360c; the V1 Gen2 is Valentine Research's answer. Notably, the V1 Gen2 lacks features such as a live community, GPS, user updatable software, and built-in Wi-Fi.

The V1 Gen2 is available from Valentine Research for $499. V1 owners can send in their devices to receive a discount on the V1 Gen2.
