Karma has unveiled a concept for a long-range electric van.

Karma produces the Revelo GT, a long-range electric sedan, at its plant in Moreno Valley, California. Rather, Karma positions itself as both an automaker and a technology company, and one of the technologies it plans to offer is a flexible EV platform.

This platform is called E-Flex and includes both battery-electric and long-range electric vehicles. Considering the various battery, motor, transmission, suspension, subframe, and steering options, as many as 22 configurations are possible. One of these is designed for supercars and delivers 1,100 hp.

An extended range version of this platform, known as the EREV E-Flex, currently underpins Karma's Revero GT and Revero GTS sedans. The specific configuration used in the van concept delivers an electric range of 200 miles, with a total range of 400 miles when using the on-board combustion engine.

Karma said the van is ideal for delivery drivers and tradesmen and can also be used as a shuttle bus or camper if properly equipped. The company also showed a battery-electric van concept based on the E-Flex platform.

Karma does not intend to enter the commercial vehicle business directly. Instead, it hopes to license its platform technology to other automakers looking for a quick and relatively low-cost solution to get into the EV game. By using an off-the-shelf platform, manufacturers can avoid the costs of developing, testing, and certifying from scratch.

And Karma hasn't forgotten its own lineup: in 2021, Karma plans to introduce the battery-electric Revelo GTE sedan.
